Another great benefit of using the Universal Market Trader is the fact that we can trade multiple markets in multiple timeframes.  This means whether you are someone who can trade during the day, only in the evenings or any time in between there are markets and timeframes that are perfect for you.

One flexible market, of many, is the Dax Futures.  This trades on the Eurex exchange and is worth $25 EUR per point (approx $34 U.S. Dollars/point) and is available at a number of futures brokers in the U.S. and of coures globally.  Volume is quite high and there is excellent liquidity.  Even better, it trades well both in European market hours and U.S. market hours so it is quite flexible trading to suit a variety of geographies.

This morning I picked up some trades starting at 9:30am EST (New York Time) and was done within 15 minutes — with three trades, all hitting profit targets, and with controlled risk on every trade.  The results you’ll see below are in Euros that will be converted automatically by your broker – in this case it will end up over $700.  Trading 1 contract, in 15 minutes.

We talk all the time about the options UMT gives you — e-Minis such as the S&P, Nasdaq, Dow, Russell.  Commodities such as Crude Oil, Sobyeans and Gold.  Forex such as EURUSD, GBPJPY, GBPUSD and more.  Stocks run the gamut – from ETFs to major large cap stocks like Google, Apple and anything else you can think of.  If there’s good movement and liquidity – it is a market we are interested in.

A Univeral Market Trader/UMT trader can be an active day trader, he or she can be a swing trader.  You can day trade the S&P, Russell, Nasdaq or Dow e-Mini, or the Dax Futures or even Crude Oil or T-Notes.  Or you can trade stocks like Apple, Google and sector funds — even the underlying options.  Every UMT Trader is probably a little bit different and that’s the versatility of the strategy.  Master this one strategy and you have a lifetime of trading possibilities ahead of you.  No matter how the markets changes, as volatility goes up, or goes down, you’ll have a strategy that is completely dynamic to these changes and self-adjusting.  Here’s an example of three very different types of traders and how they would have done just last week from December 1st – December 5th.

S&P e-Mini “Scalp” Trader

This UMT trader wants to “get in, get out, and get done” as quickly as possible.  In just 30 minutes or less, all five days they had reached trading goals (two wins and a positive result) and ended with +27.25 points = $1,362.50 per contract (including a tick of slippage per trade)

Crude Oil Futures Day Trader

This UMT trader likes to trade the energy futures.  There’s excellent liquidity and these markets are worth $10 per penny (tick) move so profits can add up quickly if you catch the trades right.  This past week there was +$2.30 profits = $2,300.  Not taking every trade – again like the above the UMT Trader can always trade more trades – but we find it’s better to have a specific trading plan that gets you to your profit objective as quickly as possible and then finishing.  No need to over-trade — remember, Get In, Get Out, Get Done.  Always.

Forex Trader

This UMT Trader focuses on the European market hours only.  Cutting down those 24 hour days is pivotal to succeed in forex trading.  Who can survive trying to monitor and trade markets 24 hours a day?  That’s no way to live.  Instead focusing on just a 4 hour window per day and trading three markets – in this example the popular GBPUSD, EURJPY and EURUSD means usually 2 to 4 trades per day and an outcome this past week of +459 pips.

Live Trade Results 12/4/08

This video gives you a nice walk-through of trading the Russell e-Mini the most recent three trading days.  Two of the trading days we were able to “get in, get out and get done” within about 35 minutes.   As far as we’re concerned, the shorter the amount of time we have to be in the markets to achieve our goals…the better.  You’ll also get to see our brand new software enhancements as our system now does a great job of identifying our core set-up, doing a lot of the work for you and you can then focus on placing the trade and managing it following our trading plan.  Check out the video here:
