Several of you were asking to see some more forex trading with the UMT Simple Plan. You asked, and we’re providing. This video covers the forex trading for today, actually the last couple of days. The movement has been great on forex so we’re seeing good trading. We discuss in this video some of the type of timeframes we like to use – for example, when day trading we are very partial to “tick” charts and not “time” interval charts. The QQQ or Triple Qs or the stock symbol: QQQQ  – no matter how you refer to this exchange traded fund that tracks the Nasdaq large cap stocks it’s one of the largest volume stocks on the market everyday.  Today?  Over 170,000,000 shares traded.  Makes for a super popular market — tons of liquidity, tight spreads and low commissions if you choose your broker right.  Trading short is no problem and executions are electronic and fast.

Well, that’s not exactly true.  We know it’s frustrating the way the price of a gallon has skyrocketed.  You’d think there was some major technological improvement in that gallon of gas but sadly it’s the same liquid as you bought last year — just twice as expensive.  No added features.  However, there’s a big silver lining here.  Trading the Crude Oil Futures.  With the world focusing on the price of a barrel, trading volatility and volumes have gone through the roof.

What that means for us is Crude Oil (CL) has become a prime market to trade.  The UMT Simple Plan enjoys feasting on these moves.  Some of them are fairly amazing on the given day (remember just this past Friday with that record move?)

In fact, this gives you a chance to turn the tables on the high price of crude — you can actually profit on the big moves up – and eventually those moves down (yes, that actually happens sometimes during the day – even now.)

Market volatility continues to be extraordinary which is playing nicely into our UMT Simple Plan strategy. Certainly we are seeing some moves that go beyond the ordinary (Crude Oil for example) and we are taking advantage of that. The results in the past week were very successful, but even if we return to some more normal range you can see that even a fraction of some of these results would work for you.

Always keep in mind there are of course trading costs – commissions, slippage and you do need to execute the strategy to the plan. The good news is the “Simple Plan” tries to keep it – simple – and this makes it more reliably followed and enables you to stay on the plan. You may even choose to trade less time (or more) than we do (we follow a strict trading plan which attempts to get us done as soon as possible each day) and that can impact results. There are actually more trades than we show — that could be good news for you since you can work your trading around the times you are available.
